I believe you can find friends and best friends on IRC. I once had a best friend from IRC who got involved with my step sister in a romantic sort of way, but after they split up he changed and ended up stealing money from me. I thought that was it, but shortly after I met the most loveliest lady on IRC and over a year on we are firm friends and speak to each a few times a day either on IRC or via mobile phone.
I am hoping to go and visit her and without her, I wouldn;t have got through the last couple of months without her help after losing my Grandad very suddenly who was like a dad to me for the last 16 years.
My friend is the most friendliest and loveliest person you could ever meet and to be honest I trust her implicitly.
