this would go back to all the other posts of everyone saying how they do not want to link servers with no users on them. everyone likes to say they have a server in every country of the world. hey guys, just because YOU live in that country doesn't mean the server is there :p

Actually, it just goes back to the fact that they can run their net the way they want.

Personally I wouldn't have 11 servers for 150 users nor would most of the people I know, but the fact is none of us own that network. If you don't like 10 users per server, then simply don't connect .. it's just that simple.

People, please lets stick to the topic and lets leave the stupid, "why do you have servers than I think you should" type questions to a more private setting.

When you are asking other people to merge with you these types of questions are completely valid in my opinion. Children will see them as insults, while adults will view them as constructive questions to help better their network.

My question was perfectly logical and not meant to flame anyone. If you are posting a request for other networks to join with you, these are the types of questions you are going to receive.

Adults could read your question as inflammatory because of how you worded it. You worded just like all the other troll fodder on this forum and in addition you asked nothing else. Adults that are truly interested in linking would have more concerns/questions than that. Adults also know that while server to user ratio is important, its far from the top of the "to be concerned about" list. Adults would also know that wording such questions as you did would cause negative comments on a site such as SIRC which as you and I both know is full of people that can and will view any question where one challenges the choices made by others as insulting.

Peace.

I don't see any inflammatory wording in that question. It's a simple question. If the network owner has an issue with that question, they can easily notify me here.

What I find more negative is you prancing around different topics and networks adding side comments to everything.

Follow your own advice please.

P.S - Someone lock this topic. Apparently asking a question is derogatory.

You seem to misunderstand my point. Please search the forum back for as long as you have been here. You will find that your exact type of question, worded as you worded was nearly always seen as inflammatory. The sad thing is I can most likely spend the rest of the day pasting examples.

I'm not concerned about your intentions. That's none of my business. I'm just concerned that a lot of people here simply have problems answering questions that sound like "why are you doing that", "why not do this instead", "what does your network have to offer" and the like. All those questions are perfectly legit too, but in most cases are found to be offensive for some reason.

You know what though, I'll be quiet. It doesn't matter anyway. I'm either flamed or accused of flaming no matter what I say, either I'm being flamed because I'm asking questions exactly like the one you asked or I'm being flamed because I'm trying to help someone in a way they didn't like or I'm being flamed because someone doesn't understand my point. So you know. Go for it ask whatever, say whatever. SIRC has gone to hell in a hand basket and nothing can save it anyway.

None of the truly respected IRC pioneers are here anymore anyway. they all left years ago and just about the only ones here are those that either are new to IRC and think that saying Hi is going to get them 10,000 users by morning, those that offer services and those that flame them for it.

Good Bye.

We place servers in as much as locations as possible for our users. These servers are not bought for the IRC network alone (VPS/DEDI), as they are donated from people. I notice some networks have 2 servers or more in a location, and to me, thats a waste. I'm all for geolocation Smile.

Thank you for response Joek Smile Shame the question had to go through so much unnecessary scrutiny. Good luck with your network!
