Hi there....
This is a great site! I love what u guys are doing, just one problem I'm having. BlabberNet is using net operator symbols (eg channel owner is ~) and when I use the Java client and you want to prv someone it uses the nick with the symbol, like.. ~tjoppie, and then the client can't chat to that person. this could be a problem for newbs that don't know how to prv otherwise... any suggestions?
Thanks for a great site ^__^ |

Unfortunately that is the price you'll pay when using non-standard items on your ircd.
Unless the ~ symbol becomes widely used for something other than no-ident reply, I doubt the java client will be able to deal with it. Especially when it's being appended to someone's nickname. |

yeah unreal started using ~ for channel owner and & for channel admin... I think its stupid.. I like IRCds that conform to the RFC...
+o and +v for prefix, nothing else
as well, I believe IRC Ops should take care of servers NOT users/channels.. of course close down channels that do illegal things by putting a service in it and banning *!*@*, but let users have their freedom
IRC Op should only be there to keep servers linked to the proper hubs as well as killing or banning the occasional flooder/cloner/spammer
In channels, chanops should be allowed to place bans or kick users with any reason they want to keep their channel sanitary
opers shouldnt force themselves back into a channel when banned unless there is illegal stuff going on inside the channel, or if the channel is infringing any server/network policy |
