This may sound like a bit of a newbie question but i couldnt find the answer easily.
What are the precedures for when 2 networks both listed on SearchIRC merge into one?
Also what happens concerning the scrawl bots?
Thanks in advance

The robots will detect a duplicate and stop indexing the perceived newer network.
When we review why the network isn't being indexed, we then have to choose which meta network to mark closed, as we can only index one network once. Indexing each "network" when they are linked together causes duplicates in the channel listings, and conflicts in the server listings.
If you would like to be more proactive and decide for yourself the structure (which network to continue indexing), the best bet is to kline the indexer on the old server with a message that it's been merged with another network. The bot will then be deactivated (because it's banned) and no conflict will result. |

Thanks for the info. At present the bot seems to have picked the right network to stop indexing anyway. But thanks again anyway.
I was just curious as to how it all worked. |
