| Apparently MOVIEBOT has some special issues, none of the people on this forum who have the ability and knowledge to assist you in this project are offering to help. Some of them are even telling you how bad this idea is. So this project is gonna go.......... NOWHERE! You are unwilling to learn to code it yourself, you just want others to do the work while you take credit for the idea. Not a good way to start a working relationship with people. How about you go back to the thinking board, come out with a new idea and see if you get better responses, because as you can see, your great idea isn't so great afterall. |

amen to that
if you want unmanged servers moviebot, go buy a dedicated server with a few ip address in various different coutries and link up pointless ircd's that contain very few users per server.
And from what i can gather, most modern servers can hold up to 5k users easily, so infact you could really run your entire network off one server which gives me the impression you want more servers purely to host hundreds if not thousands more xdcc bots or thinking it will make you immune from attacks when or if they happen which sorry to say wont.
And no i aint special, infact i consider myself normal because i aint to stuck up my own and hassan's arse to realise what was said above and your project attempt is an utter joke.
... oh btw please and general maners doesnt cost anything and goes along way, which you forgot to include in your first post. |

Besides all the issues already mentioned, I also agree with FBI:
Why build a new IRCd when there are plenty of good ones to choose from that have already proven to be stable. And that creates the other security option: To let people prove themselves worthy of joining before actually linking. They have a server running, you evaluate that server (see if it's stable, see how the opers act and respond etc). I wouldn't want to risk joining a network that has such possibility for total disaster even if I had servers to spare. |

| Allowing anybody who can compile a simple nix proggie to link is not a good idea. How often do people come here complaining about bad admins or IRCops? Those are the only people who are likely to be interested in this project, only because they could auto link on it, instead of actually having to work and earn a place of power. |

Agreed. Not all who wish to join would be lamers, but it sure is a huge invite for "bad ops"
Besides, even if u have to wait a while before u actually get any power... lamers can wait too.
In short: The whole auto-link idea ain't gonna work... that's why no network has it.
I do like the "board of directors" idea, a large network shouldn't have just 1 person leading it. |
