hey all,
i have ran across a small problem, i think its only something to do with how crappy fedora is, but i have fedora core 4 installed on my server, i have the ircd up and it boots just fine, it runs good UNTIL it links to the hub, then the ircd just crashes, anyone had the same problem? maybe tell me how to fix it? |

So, you're running bleeding edge, 200+ packages-a-day-to-update operating system, and wondering why something isn't working? :)
Some people aren't aware of CentOS, if you are one of them, look it up: http://centos.org |

I somehow doubt its fedora's fault.
Can you backtrace the core? |

The problem seems to be gcc4, so switching OSes is irrelevant. Furthermore, is this really helpful? It's like saying "Windows sucks, use Linux."
I'd suggest checking your version of gcc, if it's 4.0.0, try reverting to 3.4.4 and hopefully it will work. I've already heard of several complaints of programs not properly working with gcc4 so this would be my first suspicion.
In any case, more information would be useful. You didn't even mention what IRCd software you're running! |

Hmmm, I wasn't sure if FC4 shipped with gcc4.
Oddly though if it only dies on link. - Do you get any compiler warnings or errors when your building the ircd? |

I'm not sure if you're trying to be funny or not. Fedora is a test bed for software that may or may not make it into RedHat. There is no switching of an OS. CentOS is redhat compiled without limits for ram and cpu. Given that CentOS/RedHat isn't a development branch, you can expect things to work... At least more than Fedora core 4. |

It could be something to do with some options with that link that are calling.
e.g. if you're trying to link with zip or ssl etc
if zip or ssl got broken on your system i could see that might cause a problem
side note: (jason) Linux enables people to have a choice in the operating system distro, just because it isn't the one you have choosen doesn't give you the right to dissmiss it. |

/me points to the date of the last post before this thread died, and the fact that he fixed his problem.
P.S. Problems with SSL or ZipLinks are clearly stated in the link error, and don't cause Unreal to crash. |
