This is just a quick update post since there's a lot of people on SearchIRC who are interested in Atheme's progress. This relects trunk in our SVN repository.
First off, performance. newio has been completed, and offers an approximate 25% I/O performance boost to Atheme. More importantly, Atheme has a very rich programming API for working with multiplexed socket I/O. We have profiled the code to reduce bottlenecks.
This work has lead us to one major accomplishment. We have the fastest known burst times for a services package to date. (We can burst to a 25k client server in approximately a second, and a 50k client server in less than two.)
Secondly, MySQL support. At the time of this writing, we are working on getting MySQL support stablized. It's in the trunk, and will be reliable before 0.3b2 is released.
Third, Web Services. This is the 100% goal for Atheme 0.3beta3. alambert has been leading this front mainly. We hope to have a working XMLRPC library soon. Beta2 is the last shot at improving the technology that we will be using until post-1.0.
For those who do not know what Atheme is, it is a 100% modular services daemon. (Every service is modularized in 0.3.) If you're interested in what we are trying to do -- please visit us on IRC -- irc.atheme.org #atheme. |

I would also like to state that 0.3 will be a revolutionary rather than evolutionary improvement over the 0.2 code. 0.3 clears still more crap out, tidies more stuff up, and generally looks, works, and smells a whole lot less like shit |
