|
|
The DarkMyst IRC network, one of the top roleplaying and gaming IRC networks, is seeking coders for it's Ithildin IRCD.
Ithildin is a new, innovative IRCD, written completely from scratch in C. It uses a codebase unseen by any existing IRCD, and is close to a full, 'official' public release. This is probably one of the most 'modern' IRCds you'll see to date.
Currently we are in testing stages and are seeking to expand our coding team on this project. The candidate(s) will be working solely on Ithildin, conducting mostly debugging and bug fixing. The candidate(s) will need to have a vast amount of C knowledge and an ability to read, understand, and dive into foreign code easily.
The official website of the project can be found at http://www.ithildin.org. We encourage anyone interested in checking it out, however bear in mind that it is not ready to go live and technical support is not being offered at this time.
Someone with a great deal of talent is necessary, and interested candidates should review and get to know the code before getting involved with, or even discussing the possibly of joining the team.
Anyone interested can log into irc.darkmyst.org and msg Ryan, or email at ryan [at] darkmyst.org |

well, what you're after is way beyond my coding abilities?
but i have to say, it looks veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery interesting indeed, full generalised server with the precise function determined by modules? brilliant idea, i might have a little nose deeper into the code if i have time, if i spot a bug i'll let you know, but like i said it's beyond me, so don't 'expect' to hear about it, lol.
good idea though guys, very good indeed
*makes note to check back on progress of it* |

I tried this IRCd before and it crashed and I lol'ed.I know theres probably a crapload of bugs since it's written from scratch though.
If you want an account to test your IRCd on a Gentoo Hardened Linux server with SELinux (I'll write a policy for your IRCd), I will gladly assist you, just PM me. |

As I previously stated, it's not completely ready for a live environment. It's getting there, though.
We have more than enough test servers and resources, but I appreciate the offer and will keep it in mind. For the moment, however, we simply need to expand our dev team for the project. |

*applauds for taking time/effort to be original and code something new and different*
Interested to see how this turns out. I'll be checking back myself. |
