| On Monday September 8th, 2003, Dalnet banned me network wide for having a trojan on my computer [exp/com] I did everything that was instructed for me to do, and haven't even got as much as a reply back from them. The ban is closing in on 2 weeks and I was told that the ban would last exactly a week. I was just wondering if this ban is a services ban that will remove itself, or if an ircop will just remove the op whenever they feel like it. Any help with this situation would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. |

Korrosive, there's a contact form for DALnet's Kline team at http://kline.dal.net/exploits/contact.htm
Since you have already contacted them and were told the ban would expire within a time that is now exceeded, I'd write back and refer to that first correspondance. They may have given you incorrect information, or something set off the ban to last longer (ie, someone on the same IP). Large networks have a TON of abuse emails to deal with, so its not unusual for them to be backlogged quite a bit, or simply skip over emails they think the user should be able to figure out on their own. |

Its also possible its a node and/or entire ISP ban depending on the severity. The only thing you can do is wait for a reply and/or keep trying to get on the network.
It IS possible that this has been occuring many times and the ban is permenant; however usually the only time I've known Dalnet to do that is if they contact the ISP to try and get a solution and the ISP doesn't cooperate or reply back.
If thats the case, you may just be permbanned-I doubt it, but its always a possibility also. I would expect any email from them in reply to take a few weeks simply because of the pure email and spam volume I'm sure that email address gets on a daily basis. |
