I wanted a client in which the script could be loaded and unloaded easily. Not like mIRC where the script is saved in the file mirc.ini. I want a client where the script is a separate file. This way you can have many scripts on your computer and you can choose which ones to load.

this is true...all that mirc.ini does is hold the settings for mIRC, including (but far from limited to) the nick settings, the ident settings, what your misc mIRC options are, and what alias, popup, and remote script files are to be loaded next time mIRC is started. the scripts themselves are seperate again.

Ok, so it's established that mIRC has a shitty language used for programming and there are an infinite amount of clients with better langauges to use for scripting.
It's was established that using mIRC after the 30 day evaluation trial-period is considered, by some, stealing.
A bunch of other stuff was pointed out and noted through-out the 11 pages of this chat, at least 8 or 9 pages of which are unrelated to the topic.
So... if you use Mozilla or FireFox, have you ever tried ChatZilla?
Unless you rely heavily on scripting and DCC, I don't think that anyone should have any majorproblems with ChatZilla. Best of all, CZ is donationsware, so you don't have to pay for anything. The people who code the client do listen to peoples suggestions and have incoporated some of them into the release. Another thing, this is the smallest client that I have ever seen. Compare not even 1/2 a megabyte to over 5 megabytes. Am I saying that this is the perfect client? No, just look at bugzilla, it has over 100 bugs/enancements (more than half are enhancements) listed for ChatZilla. I'm just saying that if you use Mozilla/FireFox, that you hould give CZ a chance. It's a fairly self-explanitory, easy to use client.

I have heard about ChatZilla but i have never used it but i will be checking it out and drawing my own conclusions. Thanks for the tip-off :P

I've tried chatzilla, I really don't like it. First off, it is very, very ugly. It looks like it was written in HTML. And it just has strange things, like why does it show the nicklist in a query window?

It may be the "smallest client," but because of that, it lacks many (much more than just scripting) features that other clients have. Theme systems, customizable interfaces, highlighting, and many other things that other clients have.

Honestly though, I find it shocking that it doesn't support scripting since the client is written in Javascript! I mean, how hard would it be to add javascript scripting support?

IceChat5's uses VB Script, which leaves a little to be desired, as most people cant make any sense of VBS.
So, the new version (Icechat6) will have a new script language, much better suited for IRC, easier to use as well.
