Hello everybody,

You may know me from my introduction post, which isnt at all that amazing. I am having a problem with my SearchIRC page. I submitted it to the searchirc, it got approved, and somehow(i must have ignored searchirc for a long time) this user that isnt even a member of my network is updating its information. Its not bad, but i think network staff should decide what goes on referral pages. I sent emails to searchirc and go no reply, so i was hoping this would get more attention here.

Any help would be appretiated,
JoeK

you have the option to validate yourself and purge the access list.

the robots validate by connecting to your network and doing a whois on you. If you're opered up, you get access.

Is there a way i can do this without logging in? im not sure how that user got the ircop and whoised. Can you reset this?
EDIT:
I can even ban the bot to show that i am the owner.

Unfortunately, anyone can claim to be anyone else. There is still a lot of anonminity on the internet.

The safest and most ssecure way for you to claim control is to follow Jason's instructions.

Yes you have to log in, but it's only for a few moments, the bot is very quick and it's for the safety of your network, so it's not a trivial matter.

The thing is, i have no idea who that user is on my IRC, its none of my opers (maybe past ones i have no contact with), so this is why im stumped

It could be a past one as the SIRC bots do not constantly recheck to see if they are still staff. Once the person is secured as an oper once, they are assumed to keep that until someone removes them from the list.

That is an excellent plan!

PS: The login used on searchirc may not reflect the actual opers nickname on IRC.

Joek, I'm not sure you understand. Banning searchirc will get your network unlisted. What you need to do:
1. Go to searchirc.com
2. Click control panel on far right.
3. Click request network access.
4. Select your network and continue on from there.

This doens't make any sense, JoeK you seem hell bent on doing everything except login to IRC for a few moments. It's very fishy.

You've volunteered to do things that are more involved than just doing what jason said. You could be completely finshed many times over by now and be the *ONLY* one with access to your network information.

I checked your Net's history and you seem to swap out servers a lot. Perhaps it's one of your former opers using a name you don't know. It's not rocket science, but it's painless and takes less than 2 minutes from start to finish.

Banning the bot won't stop access to your nets info, it DOES however stop the indexing of your network.

Can we get a lock on this?
