I am from the Auscape IRC Network address: Irc.Auscape.org:6667
We are a recently renovated network running off Unreal32 and our own IRC Services Custom Built for our network
i am currently working on getting Games onto the network, this does take time
at the moment we do have an IdleRPG channel
Other Improvements are soon to come such as a Shoutcast Radio Server for people to tune in 24/7
Games such as Uno, and Any other games i can think to add,
we have a Trivia Channel already for those that like WWE as in wrestling
will Also setup another Trivia chan for normal questions un-related to Wrestling
We are currently looking for some experienced IRC Operators(2 Slots waiting to be filled) who do care about making an IRC Network Grow
and willing to help show their support and some how gain new users in the process
If you are interested please hop on our network and send Alpha or H0llywood a message on #OperHelp or send an email to admin@auscape.org
We are Serious about looking for any networks interesting in linking to us - size of the network does not matter as we are fairly new/small but growing.
Those wishing to link will get a higher status then IRC Operator
I hope to see some of you in our network, thanks for reading!

Hope you have a broadcast license. Fines in some countries are as high as $250,000 USD per song. You really should make sure you are legal. |

No, they toss them in jail for not paying for the music they listen to. Huge difference. Bottom line it requires a license to broadcast and the artists you play deserve to get paid. Don't be a hater because you are too cheap to buy the CD. |

Buy the CD music for your self is fine broadcasting it so all can listen is a different thing. They are total two different things m8. Radio stations do not pay to play there music so we can listen to it, They play it so the artist can be heard so people will go and buy there Music cd. So if someone is running a shout cast to play the music its not stealing or breaking any laws. Now if they are serve it up for the listener to download it then yes its against the law. Cause the Radio stations get paid for every turn the play of music artist songs. Shoutcast is a way for the artist to have there music turn (played) for free for them. Look at Pandora. I think you are a little confused m8 or didn't understand something or maybe you saw something on that guy/gal site that's not show here. |

| USA Today article wrote: | | Instead, LAUNCHcast is only required to pay a statutory licensing fee set by the Copyright Royalty Board, one that tends to be cheaper and doesn't require negotiations with individual recording companies. Those fees go into a pool that are then split among copyright holders. |
Note that licensing fees are still required and any station that takes listener requests could fall outside of this ruling and be subject to higher fees.
All of the legal issues is why we don't have our own network station. |

katsklaw,
There's no need to have a go at people running a shoutcast radio for network use. IRC networks have done it for years and it's just something for people to use and enjoy.
I doubt the RIAA are going to jump down his neck whilst their focusing on censoring the US internet anyway.
I personally have ran radio stations before, it's not like they're going to be massive with thousands of users.
IRC ISNT srsbznz.
I think sometimes people forget this is a hobby for people and we're suppose to enjoy it and have fun, not bitch at people because they don't have a shoutcast license...

Nixtrix. | The issue here isn't a licensing issue with shoutcast - it's a licensing issue for the music transmitted via said means; IRC already has a blackened reputation of being a haven for script/packet kiddies, pedophiles, hackers, warez and other members of the digital underground - would you, as an IRC user, be happy to be treated as though you're a nerdy bespeckled pervert who pirates as much as they can while cranking one off to images/videos/whatever of children being raped simply because you're an IRC user?
If nothing else, katsklaw is only encouraging people to go legit with their networks and the services offered therein and for that I thank him. |
