Hi,
The 'honk-honk' network has been redone, including having a new name. If you could update my network's name to 'ext3', I would appreciate it.
Thanks |

Is that the official rule? I was hoping for a quicker solution, as this section of the forum's description says "Forum for IRC admins who need assistance with their network listings. Issues such as rename, bans, reactivation, etc."
Though if I have to resubmit it, I can, but if that's the case I'd like to have my old network deleted. |

SearchIRC does not delete networks unless there is a serious reason as to why, and a network name change does not count as that serious.
By submitting a new network searchirc will eventually "deactivate" your old server. The cut off is 1 week, meaning if the scrawl cant connect to your dns within 1 week it will deactivate it. |

Well, CNAME records will prevent the crawlers from not seeing the old network anymore, and I'd rather not akill them, or fuss with putting them in deny.hosts or iptables on each individual server, especially when my DNS server is separate from my IRC servers, so I can't differentiate between the crawlers coming from the CNAME and the ones connecting properly, when this could be modified by a simple (probably even only one) line into an SQL database, or something along those lines.
Until I hear back from someone who's search IRC staff, I'm gonna hold off, rather than submit a new network request. |

I am SearchIRC Staff mate. As long as I have been using SearchIRC as well as being a staff member, this has always been the rule. |

Goose, you know I'm SearchIRC staff, and I can also verify that D3M0N is a moderator too.
That being said, rename requests are rarely granted (typically in cases of renaming Network.tld.cc to simply Network - that is, dropping the ccTLD for a network when said network leases and uses a generic top level domain such as .com, .org, .net)
In all other cases, a new domain requires a new network submission |

Shawn, you seriously need to check your network configuration if DNS is failing for you
| Code: | * Adding irc.ext3.net to the queue... standby
* Added
* [DNS: irc.ext3.net]
» [1] 66.212.21.90
» [2] 69.164.212.154
» [3] 96.126.112.226
» [4] 178.79.178.162
* [DNS: END] |

| All 5 name servers specified for ext3.net (ns1.linode.com to ns5.linode.com) provide the same answers for irc.ext3.net. |
