Hey Guys,
Considering the neostats website is messed up, I figured I would come here for help...
Im trying to install Neostats, and I get through ./configure, but when I do "make install" it does this...
| Code: | gcc -rdynamic -ldl dns.o chans.o dotconf.o services.o main.o sock.o conf.o ircd.o timer.o users.o ns_help.o dl.o list.o hash.o server.o keeper.o log.o Unreal.o adns/libadns.a keeper/libkeeper.a -o neostats
gcc: adns/libadns.a: No such file or directory
gcc: keeper/libkeeper.a: No such file or directory
make: *** [neostats] Error 1 |
any suggestions?
Thanks in advance |

dunno then. i dont use neostats as they dont provide any service i need. you just didnt say make. you went from configure to make install so i thought might have skipped a step.
rtfm is about the only other suggestion that i have. |

personally, i would recommend using IRC Defender over NeoStats.. (it's more reliable in my personal opinion and experience)
BOPM (configured to scan DNSBLs) would also be very effective..
also, i believe you are using Unreal 3.2 - you might want to check into the antirandom module for Unreal if you don't already have it. (it is very reliable and stops a lot of those bots before they can connect)
hope that helps. |

Also, NeoStats is a dead proje.. disregard that, they're both pretty dead..
But yeah, IRCDefender would probably be better suited for the job. |

Be sure to read http://wiki.blitzed.org/BOPM/FAQ#Using_Unreal_for_proxy_scanning_a_whole_network with regard to making BOPM run on the whole Network instead of scanning just the server it's connected to. I would also recommend adding other blacklists to your BOPM like SwiftBL and ProxyBL.
Also to do with IRC Defender. Take time to configure it probably. It does NOT come with the two text files it need do the scanning of known nickname patterns. Go through the it's documentation on how to set this up so it works properly and downlaod the two .txt files it needs for the scanner. The other functions of the bot might also be useful to you.
As for Anti-random - I kind of dropped the usage of this module because I had to set it to 8 so it doesn't ban stupidly. This didn't make it very effective and BOPM killed more of them anyway (after fixing the network scanning issue above) |

Okay, I got BOPM configured and all set up to monitor All server connections....
I'm struggling a little bit with defender tho... a few things in the readme/install file where confusing, I only hope I configured it right |

Damn, you have Spamhaus in your bopm, and in my opinion it's a piece of shit, it returns so many false positives.
I would becareful because I bet i'm not the only person who the spamhaus blacklist has got on your network. |
