TotalIRC network looking for new users and potential staff

Hello, my name is Christopher, some of you might recognize me around here, however its been a long time since i have been active on these forums.

I run an IRC network called TotalIRC and we have been around for some years now, since late 2002.
Due to some unforeseen events about 1½ year ago our network died out, we had an average of roughly 100 users (excl services bots of course).

We have however now re-opened and here to stay.

We run Inspircd-1.2 with anope services, i am in the middle of writing some custom services for other use on the network.
We have a user base of roughly 25 people depending on the time of day it is.
At the time of writing we have only a single server (this is in the middle of changing, where we are expecting a server from NL and possibly an AU server).

I am also in the middle of writing up our new website, currently only the bare essentials are there. I'll be focusing more on the website once i have moved (i am currently in the middle of moving)

We do not allow warez/file sharing in any channels that are not +s (i personally don't see the need for warez channels)

About potential staff, please do not just apply to become a staff member, join in, help out, we are a small network and we will notice your contributions. If we're needing staff at points and we feel your up for the task we will ask you.

Possible merge: We might also be interested in merging with other small networks, we do not however want to have any windows servers at all, join in priv me (DjMadness) with network details. and ill join in see how things are (over a period of time)
And of course i'd expect you to do the same. And then when the time comes and we all feel up for a merge we can talk together and find out how we are going to do it.

Possible linking:
We might also be interested in links depending on location and connection available. I would however like it if you scout the place first and see if it is anything for you. This way we can make sure both we like you, and you like us. And that you know what your signing up for.

We are not asking you to leave any other networks, merely add us to your current networks side by side.
Our round robin is: IRC.TotalIRC.Net ports: 6660-6669 and 7000
for SSL: SSL.TotalIRC.Net port: 9000

UPDATE:

Hi, we have recieved quite a countless applications through this to become an IRC operator.
Even though a couple was qualified we have only accepted one.
It seams a lot of people like to just apply just because it is an IRC operator status.
I know SearchIRC is not the place to search for staff (at least generally) but you can get lucky.

Please if you are searching for a staff position, make sure you can at least speak basic English, know your way around anope and be prepared to read up on the documentation on the IRCd (inspircd 1.2.x), be 18+ and accept the fact that its a small network that TotalIRC is.

I also suggest you hang around a bit before even applying so that you know for sure that you actually want to apply.

Well thats enough for the staff part.

Users, as all other IRC networks we are searching for users, and people creating a community on our network.
This does not mean you need to give up on your current IRC network, and we can assist you in using multiple networks on your irc client.

Features.
Most of my work at this time is going towards making a control panel that can co-operate with anope.
One of our staff members is creating a custom service that will link with inspircd. currently we are using a temporary service written in php to do the job.
The web control panel is to ease the process of changing settings on channels, nicks, memo's, vhosts, akills/szlines/sqlines etc.
Time is also being spent on finishing the TotalIRC website, though most user parts are created the website is still lacking a news section and some howto's/faq's etc.

We hope to see new people join TotalIRC in the coming time Smile

Its quite stupid to ask for operators from this website, its full of idiots. I pass by here every few months and comment on things just for the lols.

As i stated its potential staff, does not mean we are actively looking for staff, just that we are accepting staff providing the given person has something to offer, and is qualified in our eyes as a whole. I know its not optimal to ask here for staff, but sometimes you do actually get lucky.

I can actually state at this time, we have gotten a server and a staff member from this post.
Both of the staff members are well qualified knowledge wise, mature and can be trusted.

Sure we might decline 90% of the people asking, but I surely do find the benefit of having written this post.
Sure not many of todays IRC admins might not look at this website anymore, but old timers coming back to IRC after a period of inactivity can and do check searchirc. There are very few IRC crawlers out there. (I can only think of 4 (and one of them is just unprofessional, but its still free advertising/backlinks)), and only 2 of them have a forum.

Hiya,

Im currently a root service admin on the server cloudchat so i would be intrested in opering for you.

Im 19 and known anope quite well ive spent the last few few weeks securing our server from floods with hidden anope modules that are in the documentation and im currently in charge of the spamfilter on the server.

Im from the uk so i speak good english
