Right ok... Over last couple of weeks... I have seen some sites copying "UKChatterbox" homepage contents and pasting it on there own website like "[censored]" and many others... Is it because they cant think of there own wording to put on there site or something... No wonder people go on there website and say "This is like ukcb" and quit... why cant they take time and think of there own words to put on there homepage and no copy other peeps sites, and maybe some users wont conplain its like other website etc? Oh and another thing "[censored]" have power hungry irc opers ie "[censored]" who wants to kill people for lame things. like a calling a irc server a site instead of a network... Why does it matter?? Its the internet idiot.

To be honest, referring to an IRC server or network as a "site" irritates me too, but I'd be more likely to take the time to educate the user instead of outright killing them. That said, if the administration is happy to kill off users for petty things, the other users will probably look less favourably upon the adminisration and leave on their own free will.
That said, if you hold any form of registered copyright on your works, you may be able to use various copyright laws to your favour (if you're prepared to take this to a court), otherwise you're pretty much s#!t out of luck. |

and it makes them look pathetic for their (feeble) efforts; let the process of natural selection take care of the rest |

| I thought a "network" in this sense was the idea of the collection of linked servers, but the "chat site", is the service they offer/provide, therefore assuming surely both network and site are correct. "The network offers a chat site service." |

in a lot of cases, "site" is simply a contraction of "website", but an IRC server isn't a website (or at least the IRC protocol) - so there is a tinge of misunderstanding in the terms, generally speaking.
Another misconception is an IRC channel being refered to as a "site" |

| I suppose as the word site has a variety of meanings it depends on each individuals definition on the word site I wouldn't rule out site or network being a wrong name just each to their own is my personal opinion. |

THANK YOU!
I have tried TIME AND TIME again to explain this to both people, and didn't simply /kill for that reason, most of the time when I use the kill, it's for a laugh. Sometimes I can be known to take it too far, but come on, this is Snakes we're talking about, he can take things too far as well!
As for Incognito, I don't think I've ever actually taken it over the top with him, he likes to be annoying though - for example, he was asked to change the vhost on his bnc because it was advertising another IRC "NETWORK" - which is against the rules. He proceeded to go on and throw abuse and stuff hence why he's now banned and annoyed.
So there you have it, you decide |

Guys, the forums rules says attack ideas, not people. This isn't a place for pissing matches. If you have a problem with somebody then take it into private with them. Nobody here cares about your private disputes nor do they want to hear about.
As for the copying of website content, you may have a charge of intellectual property theft IF you can prove it and it won't function or work the same without said content. However if it's Networks stealing MOTD's or rules, then it doesn't count as much - I've seen alot of networks have similar MOTD and rules because they copy it from everybody else. |

The thing is, you knew it would cause trouble, so whatever it was, it was bound to cause issues since it was advertising another network - so why do it?
I'm not going to argue or anything like that, and you can insult me all you like, I really don't mind. I find it quite amusing actually |

| Incognito and slasherx2 - cool it, this isn't the place for personal disputes (as Trixar_za has said); now the topic's locked and can you two at least try to avoid bringing your disputes here? If not, you know where the close button is |
