traditionally, most people would use either a title for their email account if not something based upon their actual name.
I've heard of VNC (Virtual Network Connection), but you'd be better off using RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol), VPN (Virtual Private Networking) or a simple SOCKS5 proxy (a secure one would be best).
PS: Can you tell shawn the configuration for his belkin router is currently open on port 8080 of his internet IP address? I'm sure he's still trying to get my IP and take me to court for "hacking" - all I can say to that is "good luck  " |

you know, at this point, I think this thread has shot to shit :p But for the sake of keeping a lively conversation going...
I've had zero legit people come by who asked me to link who I could consider. Don't get why people think because I say I'm considering the idea, I am full force ready to change my IRCd, give up my services, and link to their server, just because "they said so" |

A few tips:
1) Have a trial period (dont just link cos they have 100 users)
2) Agree terms (don't be forced)
3) only ever change your ircd if you know you are going to be 100% certain that the link will be a success. (which is impossible to be lol)
4) you need to consider who will run services, they will want to, you will want to. you need to come to a mutual agreement that works for both parties. |

You sir, are no 3 year computer tech. PingBad is actually correct. If you were a tech, you would know that.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that it wouldn't be DNS related. When there is a DNS situation where DNS is unreachable, how do you think your IRC client is going to get an error response from the IRCd when it does't even establish any kind of connection to the "unresolved" target server?
Think about it for a minute kid and you'll understand. Depends which ircd? Right. The DNS error return is built into the IRC client. Before claiming to be a computer tech, please do learn these common problems first so that you can at least make yourself look believable when you claim to be a tech.
Now, back to the topic, don't be discouraged from not finding anything yet Goose. It may take some time for someone interested to find this. Just keep trying. |

Bertrum: Agreed on the posts and deleting or otherwise administering, but this would also mean alot more work for forum administration if they had to decide what is and is not on topic. However, perhaps there could be a more user-friendly alternative.
Outlawrunner: You know, I find it most humourous that people make an unfounded claim that "rude people like Pingbad" is why SearchIrc is on a path to "demise". No one person would be the cause "if" this place were to cease operation. If Pingbad, or any other forum administration has acted rudely towards you, then take it up with the chain of command, otherwise, get over it and stop with the false allegations. That is a completly unprofessional way to conduct yourself.

| in fact, unless we want to keep this running for entertainment (something this thread is starting to lack in) an admin can lock this, I've already got three links for a total of four servers, I'm happy with that. |
