Hi all. Some developers on my network have been working on a project they call Omega. We're running it, but we're looking to get more people interested!
Omega is a modular security service that will in time become a combination of BOPM and IRCDefender. But, we need more people to help test it and find bugs before progress can be made. Currently, Omega monitors servers and channels for connect/quit and join/part floods. It also checks for open proxies and can watch channels for specific behaviors. DNSBL lookups are in the works.
Omega currently works on Unreal3.2, Ratbox, and Hybrid. If you use one of these and are interested in the project, come visit at irc.omega-services.org #omega |

| In my opinion, you are combining two pieces of crap. defender is probably made up of the most ugly code Ive ever seen. Bopm is completely unessecary and just as ugly imo. especially when you can use an ircd that can use dnsbls in the ircd.conf....Ive run them both, and I dislike them both..theyve never lived up to their hype. This of course is just all my opinion....which I am entitled to. Im sure Ill be flamed hard for this post. I dont care. sirc drama lamas bring it on! It seems like noone around here is allowed to have an opinion that doesnt agree with the majority..... also, there are already ircds and services with those join/part flood and channel msg flood detectors in place.....Ill be glad to see what you make of this, just to see...but its not a new idea.... |

A badly configured BOPM or Defender doesn't make them crap - it only shows an inability to read the manual, readme or wiki and thus configure either correctly.
This project is pretty good considering it's not an original idea, but unlike all other 'ideas' - this one is actually exists and works. So stop knocking something you've never used.
As for me flaming you - forget it. I don't fall for flame seeking trolling anymore. |

I probably should of replied, when these comments were posted... But meh :/
Ok first off, I will not flame you, secondly, though the idea its self is not a new idea... We have some concepts going into v0.7.5 that are gonna make this unlike any other IRC Security services, also, Omega's core serves as a good starting point to branch into other IRC Services... with that said, I do agree with you IRCDefender never worked for me. As for BOPM, it is an outdated program, it works great still...
Anyways, we would love anyone who wants their ideas to be a part of Omega (Given they are sensible ones)... to come join us

| Where might I be able to get my hands on this new Omega software? I would be more than willing to give it a shot for testing needs. |
