I'm a former Op/helper on the official eMule IRC help channels of the MindForge network. Because they are not really supportive of the open source spirit, I recently left them. Now I am looking for another rich and active IRC network and I have no idea where to begin looking. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. I like to learn and to provide help to others...something along those lines is what I am looking for.

A server I currently use which I find entertaining is 'irc.nixtrixirc.net'
NixtrixIRC has a decent amount of users and the main channel #NixtrixStudios is active at all different times throughout the day.

| It may be beneficial to say what kinds of topics you are interested in, or even just pick some random networks from SearchIRC's database based on your topics of interest. Otherwise, you run the risk of having a bunch of people saying "Come to my network!" when they may not be related to anything that you're interested in. |

Amen to that. Speaking as an IRC'er, if an advertisement for a network doesn't cover any topic I'm interested in, I'm more likely to skip past the network no matter how good it may or may not be.
People these days tend to converge in areas where there is something that interests them in prescence (be it gaming, coding, rebellion, et cetera) and as such overlook everything else. It is for that one reason alone that one must promote their network well - that advertisement more often than not can make or break a network's future. |

True, he is everywhere, but then again so am I sometimes. I just can't help checking in on new networks and getting a feel for the staff of a place |

but after the move from freshIRC to Mindforge we stayed there for a few months , then we started our own network,
