Lets gets some feedback going here on this.
I propose that we make it so spamming your network, shamelessly or otherwise be banned from some forums. Granted this is an IRC site for admins, but there are plenty of places already where a user can promote their network. We don't need to be in the middle of a conversation about something indirectly related to a feature that XYZNet offers and *BAM* "Come to my 10 user network" shows up because they use the same color widgets as the topic.
Not picking on anyone and not to mention that the thread is long dead, but this is one such example: http://searchirc.com/boards/viewtopic.php?t=6902
The website of the applet has examples and is easier to get to than the spammed network, at least on the site you don't need to sign-up .. shameless spam in my humble opinion.
So I say, lets restrict spam/ads/promote to forums where it's more appropriate. |

| I think the mods normally catch that stuff.. maybe you just caught it before the mods did? |

| perhaps, but as stated, that was just an example. To my knowledge adverts can be injected into any thread in any forum. My idea was to have adverts and such limited to network related forums. There are several forums that haven't anything to do with irc networks that get spammed with adverts. |

| I think that it is an unwritten rule. I normally see a BANG! within a few hours of seeing an unruly advert. |
