Very true.

I've always said that the only thing harder to do for netadmins than getting users is keeping users. That's why they must be treated like gold, it's their network .. not yours. You are just there to prevent chaos.

That's one problem with a lot of the newer, younger netadmins these days. They think it's their network because they have the title, oper status and/or pay for the hosting .. so they think they can do whatever and they couldn't be more wrong. They powertrip over something they never had to start with.

I'll shamelessly point back to: http://searchirc.com/boards/viewtopic.php?t=6242 Especially Do #3.

katsklaw has a point lol. I just say that the server( dedicate box ) is mine and the server ( ircd ) is the users Smile I try my best to keep users so i treat them like they are god but for some reason they usually dont end up coming back. *thinks he needs a better domain* lol

bah you replied before i was completely done. lol .. that's what I get for hitting submit too soon.

Anyway, banshee. Good luck with your search. A while back I retired from IRC all together and as of late am considering a comeback with a new network. I haven't picked a theme yet though. I was thinking a gamer network but not positive. I'll keep you in mind and maybe your 9 years plus my 12 can mean something when providing a professionally run, stable and feature packed network.

Ciao.

Thats cool...

I've been trying to do a gaming community based around Half Life 2, Half Life 2 DM, or other FPS games, but shit, I dunno where to start. I have 4 dedicated staff members, who pretty much have been with me since day one in 2005...
