After using srvx-based services for years, I've found that in-channel commands, including !help, really aren't annoying. Annoyance comes from people spamming things, which if they aren't spamming commands, they're probably spamming something else.
That doesn't really say much with regards to Anope's help system, but that's just an observation of mine, and mileage may vary for other people/networks.
Personally, I have very little experience with Anope, but when I tested it years ago as a potential solution for our network, I just wasn't very impressed with it. I can't comment on the current version of Anope, though, and I'm certainly biased from my experiences with networks that didn't use Anope. I like how srvx is set up (accounts, ChanServ configurable to always be in channels, other features), but I believe that networks should choose services/ircds that best meet their needs. I also feel very strongly that networks should customize services/ircd code.
In any case, the real irritation here is resurrecting a thread that's almost a year old with a silly one line opinion.  |
