Hi guys,

This is just a quick announcement, to let people know that work has started on NodeIRCd.

NodeIRCd is the first step in a complete IRC daemon package, which will grow to include services, and a BOPM equivalent.

We're Basing it on the unreal 3.x codebase to begin with, but a whole lot of that codebase will be changed ( it's primarily just to ensure initial functionality.)

anyway, inevitably we're looking for developers ( C coders), testers/bugreporters etc, so if you're interested in helping out, or just would like to know more, then you can find the team in #nodeircd on irc.verbalnode.net .

He's lacking much detail, but if you want the full scoop, drop by and get the info for yourself, add ideas, etc. Very Happy

Omw - a IRCd with merging various services into it. This will either be brilliant or cause the end of the world... *hides in bomb shelter in case the world ends*

On a totally irrelevant note, why did you choose to use the Unreal 3.* code base? The 3.3 codebase, I could understand, because it will be modular like crazy and maybe inspircd (you see how easy it is to write modules for that thing, it's crazy!). Anyway, just curious about that Razz

eh, primarily because we hated how messy the 3.* codebase was, and wanted to clean it up, and because we're not fans on inspircd.

Ok, that makes sense and I've seen 3.* code - I wish you luck with that - maybe in a year's time we'll all be using it - who knows Wink
