Im running an IRCD for a community here in Sweden (irc.lunarstorm.se) and I'm looking for some anti-ads/spam/flooding-services. Today I'm using 'nosense' slightly modified for eggdrop but it's just no enough.
I really would like an eggdrop-module or a service instead.
Do you have any suggestions? We're using ConferenceRoom but modifying from say Bahamut is not a problem.
I took a look at NeoStats and it seems to do some of the tricks, anyone used it and can give me some feedback about it?
Thanks! |

| if you intend on having mostly java users, just set channel mode +jk <key> the +j mode will allow java users to override the channel key... then you can make a lobby where normal IRC client users meet and you can invite them into the room from there.. its the best spam protection |

yeah CR is the best if you set it to java only and have other IRC clients connect with password :)
CR 2.1 has a new java applet called ChatNow and its way better than any other applet I ever found.. once you embed it into your web pages you will get more users |

I'm sure you can set a password for most, if not all popular IRCDs and in my opinion pjirc is a pretty cool java chat.
However if someone wants to spend $5000 on CR, then all power to them. I personally would spend that sort of cash on a holiday. It's a stressfull life being an unemployed bum. |

I dont. I intend to increase the number of ordinary irc-users, so that's no option. =) |

your best bet would be to switch to bahamut.. bopm doesnt work on CR unless you either make it ignore hosts with letters in it or turn DNS off on the ircd..
and the default proxy scanner built into CR really sucks.. it hardly works..
CR is basically for if you want mostly java users from a website :P |

Hello, the current bahamut does have built in flood/spam protection that can be adjusted to taste via the include/config.h file. You can add NeoStats as an added layer of protection, if you haven't already given them a try they really are a fantastic network tool. The link to them is www.neostats.net in case you don't already know, and if you do decide to give them a run make sure you install the extra modules "OPSB SecureServ" also if you use an IRCD that supports hostmasking(not bahamut) you can use HostServ that acts as a hostmasking server for your clients. NeoStats does not come with SecureServ or OPSB by default so be sure to grab them. Theres even a dummy client that can load with neostats that catches mass advertisements although I haven't seen many of those, lately if you are receiving the kind fo spam my network has been receiving it's those clients that join/part and message only non-ops the advertisement. I ended up just resorting to making my channels +R and forcing nickname registration in combination with auth codes since the new version of spambots register and identify to nickserv! I hope this helps some.

I've already modified BOPM to work with CR, I made a nice little patch so that's been taken care of.
I'm aiming to do the same with Neostats now when I've tried it on bahamut and found out I like it. =) |

Take a look at modules for anope if you use it-there is one that checks bopm if a host is listed and akills for 2 days (configurable) automatically.
Doesn't take alot of ram either. |

But they can be disabled and replaced, cant they?
Though, Anope would need alot of modification to work with CR since CR doesn't follow the RFC on some stuff. |
