Ugh. I typed a nice long formatted message, but my session timed out. So I'm going to just sum it up.

Basically, scrawl QUIT msgs used to look like this:

<Core> [21:53:26] (ABAdW -> scrawl55) QUIT (Quit: [SearchIRC] Indexed --- channels in 2 secs @ Oct 5th, 2008, 10:53 pm)

and now they are this:

[21:24:09] <Core> [20:23:19] (ABAdT -> scrawl94) CONNECTED
[21:24:16] <Core> [20:23:26] (ABAdT -> scrawl94) QUIT (Quit: [SearchIRC] scrawl (3))
[21:54:04] <Core> [20:53:15] (ABAdU -> scrawl84) CONNECTED
[21:54:12] <Core> [20:53:22] (ABAdU -> scrawl84) QUIT (Quit: [SearchIRC] scrawl (3))
[22:24:05] <Core> [21:23:15] (ABAdV -> scrawl93) CONNECTED
[22:24:12] <Core> [21:23:22] (ABAdV -> scrawl93) QUIT (Quit: [SearchIRC] scrawl (3))

Yes, [SearchIRC] scrawl (3). It no longer displays the information it gathered. Is this a typo in the code? Did you put 3 when you meant something like DATAMSG[3]; ?

It's not really a big deal at all, but i wanted to bring it to your attention.

You should be aware of imitators, perform a /whowas on the nick next time you see that quit message and see if it's authentic. The real scrawl should be from something like *@data.searchirc.com.

They've been doing that on my network as well. I thought it was someone messing around but they connect at the same time the real bot would connect. Also, when versioned by StatServ and another service we have they give the same version info.

Glad I'm not the only one seeing this :S

Didn't say you did.

But yes, thanks for the help, it was a good possibility. Smile

I put in some code to do the /list about once per 3 hours, yet still have the bot connect in order to have nice looking graphs and network stats. It looks like the quit message is not displaying correctly.

I just made a change, let me know how it looks :)

Jason,

Here's the new stuff:

[18:06:45] <Core> [17:05:59] (ABAeH -> scrawl72) CONNECTED
[18:06:53] <Core> [17:06:06] (ABAeH -> scrawl72) QUIT (Quit: [SearchIRC] scrawl (3))
[18:36:46] <Core> [17:35:59] (ABAeI -> scrawl25) CONNECTED
[18:36:53] <Core> [17:36:06] (ABAeI -> scrawl25) QUIT (Quit: [SearchIRC] scrawl (3))
[19:06:52] <Core> [18:06:06] (ABAeJ -> scrawl66) CONNECTED
[19:06:59] <Core> [18:06:13] (ABAeJ -> scrawl66) QUIT (Quit: [SearchIRC] Error on Universium - No channels found.)
[19:36:50] <Core> [18:36:03] (ABAeK -> scrawl10) CONNECTED
[19:36:57] <Core> [18:36:10] (ABAeK -> scrawl10) QUIT (Quit: [SearchIRC] Error on Universium - No channels found.)

Regression perhaps?

Yeah, I'm noticing the stuff myself, saying no channels can be found on my network.

well, it shouldn't be doing a list every time... watch it for a few hours and let's see if it reports numbers eventually

Change it from showing the "error no channels found" message to something else like "We're not currently looking for channels, we only do this every few hours"

Because I'm getting the error also. So is everyone else I know..
