SearchIRC has been up quite a while, and has a ton of visitors, but ads aren't something we spend much time thinking about. It's only because some people have been expressing interest with promoting their network that we're starting to move on this.

Starting Sat 10th, 2004, SearchIRC will be taking ads. The ads are only available for IRC networks. You can read more on the EverythingIRC website.

Not only are we offering networks a way to gain exposure, but within a week or so, we will also start offering a way for networks to make money from their users and channels. The way it works is: Channels can replace their channel topics with graphic banners in the search results. There will be a small charge for this, and 1/3 will go to the IRC network that signs up the channels.

Networks can either take that money in cash, or as credits for advertising on SearchIRC.

Hey Bill..

I have been working two jobs for the last two weeks. While I have quit one of them, the other has an urgent deadline on the 19th which is eating up ALL of my free time.

The ads will officially be starting on the 20th, unless there are unforeseen problems that prevent that from happening.

Bill - No problem at all. I'm just explaining the slight delay in getting this off the ground. We're anxious to get it going, but there are sometimes time constraints :(

We are now launched.

We're going to go with just buttons for the time being - $25 per month. Only available for IRC networks.

The buttons will:

1) Appear on the front page.
2) Unlimited clicks, unlimited impressions.
3) Last for one full month (so the day you sign up, in the following month - e.g; If you sign up Jan 23, it will last until Feb 23).
4) Not be displayed on network pages - we don't want conflicts.
5) Full stats are made available - You will get an advertiser login account allowing you to see how many impressions and clicks for each day, each hour, etc.

Let me know if you have any feedback on this.
