| I was banned unfairly from Outblaze IRC. I was tempted by the Op to react in such a way as I did for them to kick me (I didn't use profane language by the way, which makes it worse). Furthermore, I didn't receive any kind of DIRECT warning that I would be kicked or banned from the server if I did anything wrong. All I got was a threat from the Op that was present (who happend to be an IRC Cop of some sort as well). If anyone can tell me the official website to this server, so that I can show them my case, that would be greatly appreciated. |

| *Taunting Remark* As opposed to Threat, which is what I originally wrote. |

It would be helpful if you gave the server's address or the web address of the chat. The only outblaze I found was http://www.outblaze.com and when I tried to connect to their server and recieved the following.
| Code: |
[01:26] -irc.outblaze.com- *** Looking up your hostname
-
[01:26] -irc.outblaze.com- *** Found your hostname, cached
-
[01:26] -irc.outblaze.com- *** Checking Ident
-
* Identd request from 203.86.166.80
* Identd replied: 1402, 6667 : USERID : UNIX : proirc
-
[01:26] -irc.outblaze.com- *** Got ident response
-
[01:26] Ping? Pong!
-
Password Incorrect
-
[01:26] Closing Link: fx by irc.outblaze.com (Bad Password)
|
 The injustice of it all. |

Sure. To get on the server you can either type in
/sever chat.graffiti.net OR chat.outblaze.net
I hope this helps |

By the way, there is no such thing as being banned unfairly from a IRC network. Most networks have a set of rules that include the right to remove anyone they wish without reason or cause.
Just because you have an internet connection doesn't mean you have the inalienable right to use any IRC network-they can and will ban people if they wish, especially since the staff members are the ones that usually pay to have the service running.
I hope when you emailed them you didn't take a rude approach-if you did, I will bet the ban will stand. |

| I know better than to yell and use profane language when I'm presenting my case, that's just plain common sense. Other than that I can see that we look at this from two different points of view. I know that there is a set of rules that the server has, and I try my best to abide by each and every one of them, but I still don't like the fact that they can just ban you off of the server for no reason, even IF you did nothing wrong. But all I'm saying is, I could have been provided with a DIRECT warning. And mind you, this wasn't 2 or 3 times. I was first killed off the server. After much teasing and tanuting by the IRC cop I said something that I shouldn't have said(No profanity was used either). The point is I was provoked into doing such a thing by an irresponsible offical. And banned without so much as a warning. Just ignorantly taunted. |

There's not much you can do about it unless the other admins on the network are responsible. Then they can probably boot his server off (if he owns it), or boot him off (if not). If not, remember that all servers are inheritly private and as such you have to follow their rules or bust.
Now, most servers are not like this, but some are. |

Networks are private. Usage of them is a privilege, not a right. If they want to ban you, for whatever reason (or lack thereof), then they can. They pay the bills and run the network - it's their choice.
That said, it is not normal to ban without a cause or reason. But to each his own. |

In other words, the Golden Rule applies: the folks who put up the gold are the ones who get to make the rules. |

Have to wonder why you would even want to go to a network if they treat you that bad.
Seriously, on our network, we require akills to be justified. If a user complains and we find the oper didn't follow procedure, they risk being removed from their position. I think any admin will follow something similar.
Have you tried emailing the admin to present your case? |

On our server, and usually with others, it takes a fair amount of trouble before you are removed. On the other hand, there are also networks such as JustAChat which kline users for just going to other chats. There are chats where the admins control the server, and there are chats where the admins think they control everything the user does.
And I agree, if you join a chat, almost ALL now have a MOTD stating you may be removed at any time for any reason and that chatting there is a privledge, not a right.
Small spelling error up there |

I would have to agree with that-If you're getting banned for no reason, the network must not really care about retaining users
Especially if they don't reply to inquiries about akills either. It happens though. |

i've been lucky. in the entire time i've been running my server (several years although the userbase is extremely low), i've only had to ban one user. i try to let my ircops know that i dont want any abusive behavior going on and i think they understand. i dont like to even see an oper flaunt their power:
"do as i say or i can make you"
which i see alot on alot of nets. |
