I submited my IRC network days ago, 1 or 2 weeks ago, and the validation email doesnt arrive.. Can the administration of Search IRC resend the email of the IRCzone.org network? please...

Just resubmit your network. The email is sent immediately, so if you don't get it within the day, something is wrong.

If you check http://searchirc.com/pending-networks.php you'll see that other networks are moving through the system. If it was a problem on our end, none would be successful. But I am sure Jason will look into it just to be sure.

UnDeRGoD, Speaking from experiance i can assure you all the time other people are recieving the validation emails there is no problem with the SearchIRC mail server(s). The problem i can assure you is either with your DNS not being set up properly (MX records fail somehow), YOUR mail server not being set up properly or your mail server rejecting them as spam.
The first thing id suggest you try is to send an email from an address OTHER then then the one thats not recieving them and that has a different domain name (the part after the @). If you recieve that then its likly your mail server is rejecting the validation emails or treating them as spam. |

I did a little more digging, and this slashdot article is pertinent to this discussion:
http://it.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=06/10/04/1324214
If you have ADD, here's a specific post that is short and to the point:
http://it.slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=199035&cid=16307755
What's happening is that postfix (MTA) has an optional setting that lets it validate incoming email by connecting back to the remote mail server (that the sender is sending from) in order to pretend to send an email. If the remote server says the user is valid, it drops the connection and lets the incoming email go through. If there is no validation, the email is silently dropped. While this might seem like a good idea at first (to see if emails are valid or not before accepting them), that same exact validation process would allow any remote system to validate if an email is real or not. Allowing a dictionary attack on a mail box to get a list of valid emails to spam!
You can read more here:
http://www.postfix.org/ADDRESS_VERIFICATION_README.html
What the above readme doesn't mention, is that gmail doesn't validate email addresses, which is why we're in the current situation. A few weeks ago I moved the mail off a box I was running and put it into gmail's hosted service.
I don't have a solution at this moment in time - since it's your mail server that is rejecting my emails, and not the other way around.

How do I get control of my network's profile again? I had my network indexed a while back, and then went without internet. I dont have access to the original username/email I registered with. But I can varify that I do own my network.
Thanks

- Surf over to the SearchIRC control panel
- Log in (if need be)
- Under "MyNetworks" will be a link entitled "Request Network access"
- Follow the prompts and you should have your network access

it can't take a day - no network is available to be reviewed until at least 3 days.
