Spam Bots

I know that the bots are out with nicks like | / and stuff like that advertising webcams and stuff. Just a quick question. This is the only place that my network is advertised at and has the correct port. I have not advertised elsewhere and my net isnt on the main mIRC list. How do they know about my network if its not advertised anyone else but here?

You should be aware that your network is listed with ifirc:

If you'd like to know how I found such information, I simply did a google search for it :P

Also, SearchIRC does not provide any server lists that one can easily obtain. Furthermore, while SearchIRC may list servers on the MOTD page, it does not list any ports. So if your network uses a special port, and the SearchIRC index robot connects on that port, that port would never be mentioned ANYWHERE on the SearchIRC website.

ifirc is a fine site that does a lot to promote IRC, and it is unfortunate that someone is using their list for malicious purposes. But it has already been firmly established that these particular bots are using ifirc's servers.ini list.
