2 Abusive Networks Flooding Other Networks.

Hello, I am an Oper on the DotChat IRC network. We are a small network which has been around a while, we just keep ourselves to ourselves and don't bother other networks. In return we expect the same from other networks.

Being in a channel chit-chatting with somebody and another network comes up in conversation no big deal, chances are it's how you heard of whatever network you are using now. So we don't mind this. However what we do mind, is being flooded by other IRC networks, and DDoS'd.

2 networks have been responsible for these attacks on us recently.

The eliteirc network and the efchat network.

Like I said, we keep ourselves to ourselves and do not bother others so it is not much to ask for from others. I can assume the reason of the floods is because of a channel that is on our network. This channel has been there for years, however the channel they have on there servers with the same name is completely different.

Theres is dedicated to illegal activities, like trading credit cards, email spamming people with fake bank websites, "cashing out" credit cards. The list goes on, this is fone if you want to run your network like that, but please leave us alone.

This is the only reason I can think of for the attacks, because of those networks have a channel of the same name.

I would just like you all to know about these 2 networks and to avoid them.

Do you have proof that its these exact networks, even if they are spamming you, doesnt mean they are commiting all activities that you just mentioned. If not, dont jump "too far" into conclusions before blaming irc networks for things.

its a tad hard to get proof of any network doing it, however if you catch them in the act of doing it, then you have something to moan at, but at the moment you have nothing to go by so this is yet another wasted thread.....

Complaining about issues like this on the searchirc forums is a waste of time. While it allows you to vent, it always ends up being one guy bad mouthing another, and a flame war ensues until the thread is locked.

Rather than complain about a specific person or network, how about post what you've learned, and how to prevent someone else from falling into that trap?

Meanwhile, I'm going to lock this thread.
