After a year of development, atheme.org has released version 1.0 of Atheme IRC Services. The 1.0 release marks the point of where we consider Atheme to be usable by the general public. It also marks the beginning of Atheme 2.x, a next-generation rewrite making use of technologies we developed in the process of the 1.x development cycle. Atheme 2.x is presently codenamed AthemeX, and should not be used on production networks. For those of you who do not yet know what Atheme is, it is a highly-modular IRC services daemon written primarily from scratch by atheme.org.

Where can I get 1.0?

All Atheme-related downloads are available here.

Atheme's Features

Modular design: Customize your network services to any level you wish.
Support for many IRCds: Run whatever IRCd you wish to run, we support all the common ones, and many exotic ones too!
Dynamic Operator Privileges: Grant only what your opers really need access to, cut down on abuse!
Not based on IRC Services 4.x! All code is clearly presented, accounted for, and documented.
Modular storage support! Change from flatfile to postgresql or mysql without even having to restart Services!
Futureproofed. Atheme 1.x's architecture is ready for the future, and we will be supporting it for a long time to come.
No vendor lockin! Implement your own Services ontop of Atheme's modular core.
Protected by liberal licensing. The atheme.org public licence is a BSD-derived licence that makes sure Atheme can never go closed source. (comparable to the GPL)

Support

Support can be obtained on irc.atheme.org, #atheme.
