I think this is a bad pratice. It sucks to have your network running slower then normal because of an unknown computer that is hogging your resources.

As soon as I get my box setup in my car I'll be stealing wifi all the time and marking the hotspot locations on GPS If people don't secure their wireless networks they can't expect it to not occasionally get hijacked. Plus, it'll be cool being able to look at the GPS and see where the nearest wifi-spot is if I need internet on the road. |

You know, this post if very old, but i never did check up after it until now. At this very moment, the internet I have is legit, taking I moved in with my g/f and such. Just to mention about the laptop part was, 1) the laptop was not mine, it was my brother in laws(piece of crap broke too). 2) it was a graduation present for him. A real crappy 1.7ghz celeron. Anyway, I understood all your points, Id pay the guy back now if I knew who's it was lol.

I have a wifi router that allows me to use my connection. I have a neighbor god knows where who also has a wifi router. Apparently his router is better than mine, he can knock me offline when I'm in my own house, less than 2 feet away from my router!!!! So solve this problem I finally got fed up and logged into his router and made a WEP for him and locked his router to keep random ppl from logging onto his router. To my knowledge the people still haven't figured out there was a problem, which leads me to think that they don't even use the wifi on their router, but I can tell it's at least still secure when the network appears on my laptop as secured. While I don't normally agree with doing that, I had put up with them knocking me offline every few minutes for over a month before I got fed up with the crap.

Hey I just locked it up so he can use it without knocking others offline, or others using it without him knowing. I was nice and patient but after a while enough is enough. I'm not paying for service I can't use because some other idiot doesn't know how to config his router properly lol.
