Yeah... thing is, the better the company gets, the more users that will join and the more chances of getting the shell host ddos'd frequently.
Sadly, that's the life of shell hosting |

if anyone wishes to talk about a bad shell hosting services should be me
I will not mention the hoster due to not cause harm towards his business because he has been a very nice guy and I know him for a while, no childish behaviour whatsoever and very patient about everything (understand i can be a pain in the ass when it comes to a service i pay for but is all done in a resonable mature manner) plus it has been a very good service despite the problems i been having
but take this for example like it happened to me recently, you have a shell and its linked to a network, but you are behind on payments a few months, you decide to delink from that network and tell the hoster, "hey im going to be away for a while working on a couple projects and wont be able to do payments for a while" so i delinked, killed all processes on the shell and deleted everything, and told my hoster that to put my shell account on hold till i got back and gave him my word about this which is something I dare not fail on, at the time EVERYTHING was working how it should on the account, when i get back and do the payment, the account is reactivated, everything compiled fine, all the conf's are how they should be, everything seems to be working at full potential, but what i encounter is a constant operation timed out with myself and all my users getting disconnected
at this time i tried everything i could in my skills on the account, and nothing, at this point i decide to contact my hoster to see what the problem is, he tells me to check my conf's i check and tell him, everything seems to be ok and ask him to have a look for himself, he checks and sees everything to be fine, and tried everything he could and he has no explination how or why this happened, as my account is the only one that is fequenting those problems from that same box, my account ip changed over 3 times to see if it would fix the problem and nothing.
note the box where my account is on according to the hoster is a dedicated box, and my server has never gotten DdoSed or anything of that matter.
the problems are still frequented to this day |

| I happen to know ab0rted and know that his shell host was located at a reputable data center before. It is now located at FDC Servers. FDC Servers is the most horrible data center on the face of the planet. They null route entire boxes for an attack on a single IP. Then their techs forget to un-null route peoples servers for days. Their billing/sales department is extremely rude and threatening, and their Cogent lines are so cheap and oversold that they are over running their bandwith capabilities and causing major packet lossage. They swear up and down this isn't happening but after having a server located there and tracerouteing google several times per day for weeks and averaging it most problems occur during peak usage hours. They have out dated equipment and morons for techs. They charge the same ammount for cogent bandwith as you can pay and get level 3 bandwith now as well. No longer so cheap since they screwed their service and lost tons of customers. I myself moved to Gigeservers and couldn't be more happy with my dedicated from there, and they're located within blocks of each other. Perfect show of incompetance. |

wired420 is right
my new shell Is from him and I must say it has been the best shell hosting I am ever to expirience, wired is NOT known to do crappy work, he is a perfectionist and has done work with a lot of big shell hosting companies and all say great things about him.
I highly recommend everyone that needs hosting to Wired's services, the name of his hosting company is LiquidSkies site: http://liquidskies.net I am very impressed with his services and for me to be impressed takes a lot trust me, the current support IRC channel can also be found in irc.frydays.org #LiquidSkies |

By the way, the website hurts the eyes a LOT. Black all over with very dark blue. Couldn't browse around more than 5 minutes or so :\
Although, I'm not judging the service by the website
I just looked at the offers, they are very nice. |

I recommend spending $10 amonth for a really stable, and fast shell account from Oxygenshell. I switched with them, because of my last provider (http://www.ircprovider.com/) was unstable and the have lag problems.
So if your looking for a fast, stable, and friendly staff oxygenshell is the place.

if i am not mistaken Andy fixed that problem, he put all the ircd on their own box away from the http (webhosting) we was with him until the very end.We had 6 shell dotted all over the place and Andy was one of the owners that really tried very hard to make every one happy ,Sadly i can't say about the other 5 .I think its all down to you get what you pay for. |
