I woke up on Christmas morning, take a glace at my computer screen and see one of our servers split. It was energy, hosted by BsdLogic. Their box had restarted for the 3rd time this week; first time being for unknown reasons according to the staff, second time to upgrade ram, third time for unkown reasons. There was also the times it simply lagged for extended periods and ended up splitting and throwing off all the users. They claim they were running "tests". The statement "If it ain't broken, don't fix it" doesn't seem to apply for the folks at bsdlogic.
The staff was not helpful, infact they totally didn't understand the impact downtime can have on a growing irc network. Because our server has split at least 7 times this week, because this server was also our hub, the outages brought our network to its knees. It also affected our reputation, to allow such an unstable server to be linked. Normally it would have been replaced, but the admins promised there would be no more downtime. They lied.
Their servers have an average uptime of 4 days. They have yet to receive a ddos attack, but somehow manage to have such bad uptimes. The average gigeserver has an uptime of 30 days.
I understand all hosts are going to have the occasional downtime, but this doesn't excuse all the useless restarts. BsdLogic's administration is split three ways, three different people paying and running the show. They never know what eachother is doing, for example when one restarts the box, the others didn't know about it. They aren't mature with their customers (insulting disappointed customers in main, kickbanning them when they say they aren't satisfied.)
Anyways, thank you for reading my rant and for the sake of your irc network, don't buy from bsdlogic. Unless you happen to really like netsplits and bad service. |

| Heh reason why if I have money I'll buy a ded hub all so there will be little downtime and the box is all yours so u can control it and little downtime besides upgrading or in case of a ddos attack... |

Mwahaha..
I was there with shadow and saw it all!
I was a customer of BSDlogic too and I asked for a refund because I've been a customer for only 5 days and have received only 1 day uptime. And that one day uptime, StatServ (a neostats service) kept reporting "Lag detected!" kept annoying the opers everytime they saw it.
So, one of the admins agreed to give me a refund and I quit their service and bought another shell hosting company that's a lot better. (http://outlandz.net)
Everytime you ask them "why did you reboot?" they answer "it was only for one !@#$@#! minute" or something along that line... either way, one of the admins was really rude about it and instead of apologizing, he decides to blame us for bitching about it.
One downtime causes netsplits and users disconnecting... It's horrible, especially for a network like slacked who had the server as their hub.
I decided to use their ircd host because my Home cable connection kept disconnecting every week or so... So, I wanted a stable ircd. Then when I got bsdlogic, it was 10 times worse.
So yes... don't buy from BSDlogic if you plan to have a PROFESSIONAL ircd host
shadow, PS: energy is/has changed hosts, right? |

| They suck bottom line. Horrible splits, random times. Do not bother with them at this point. Although the prices are nice. The down time, and apparent lack of professionalism is horrible. Aviod even useing there service for a serious reason. |

Sorry for any inconveniece caused we do apologise for the 3 reboots, we admit we had some problems which are now fixed and a ram upgrade was done.
Customers who left because they were unhappy please msg me on efnet as narc and i will give you a free month to ride the service out to see how it feels. All previous customers are still on file for security reasons so ONLY previous customers will recieve the free month.
Please can someone contact me to tell me who booted out a customer who was complaining about our service, i do not tolerate this and reasonable action will be taken.
Again sorry for the downtime, were pushing for the best shell/webhosting provider with the best customer service.
thank you |

"mrwink/wink" basiclly kickbanned shadow and a few others.
I also said "I want a damn refund.." then he immediatly locked my account, after me thinking he'd at least apologize for what he has done...
Either way, a lot of people on that channel were pissed...
I was kinda upset too because my Network had to go on a day without the server. It was just annoying having to edit the DNS, buy a new shell host, waiting to get accepted, setting it up all over again, , etc. etc.
But yeah, I apprectiate your apology. |

Hey Guys
What can I say.
I Was Online and Logged in the Box. I've Been doin Long hours and everything else to uphold our 99.8% uptime..
I'm not gonna kiss you're rears and say Please Stay with us or Shut up cause ya don't know whats goin on..
What I will say is this. We are doining everything we can to Minize the Downtime as much as we possibly can. We have under estiated our Capabilities as they have been exposed to us.
I agree with all of you. It has been a Bad week and there is no excuse for it.
We have Extensivly econfigured on many levels. We Are researching and Considering other options.
In All reality Actions Speak louder then words. You can take whgat we say or ignore it. the Choice is in the hands of the reader...
With to BSDLogics Defence. Before we had changed over from Tech-Squad. We were Averaginng uptimes of 60 - 80 days with reboots almost in sync with FreeBSD Eratta reports..
I know we can do it.. We have the determination to make it happen.. I Have seen stability in the past.. It will be done |

There's real life english (no slang, spelling errors, etc), then there's online english (common slang - u for you, 4 for for, etc), and finally... no english (nothing makes any coherant sense)... FBI would be following online english and gerolkae would be following no english... go figure |
