I don't think it would really matter though. I had only 5 users on my Network and searchirc still added me.
Although, services also count as users, so do other services like NeoStats.

I currently have only 8 real users, but ChanServ, NickServ, OperServ, BotServ (and its bots), MemoServ, NeoStats, StatServ, ConnectServ, etc. take increase the /lusers. |

I was more pointing to networks like hackexe, where a bunch of kiddo's playing with 8 dollar shells manage to enter teh Top10 Networks by cloning or ircd hacks.
But for Hackexe, i noticed tis already been taken care off
http://searchirc.com/network/Hackexe
However, i still think a place to report cheaters would improve teh network rankings.
Cheers

lol, gotta love the mods... All I see is "Post Removed", yet pure intrigue is begging the question... "what was moderated?" rofl
anywho back on topic, cheating your way up the rankings is just low, lower than ramming a kneecap into someone's "biological pride and joy" and yes, I do reckon there should be a forum for people to publicise and shame out networks who use bots and other nefarious means to raise their usercounts (naughty naughty netowners ).
Just my 2 cents |

To clear up, we have 45 thousand bots on our network. These bots are run by us, on local machines (Not infected hosts) - these are not typical botnets etc. Check em out if you want, do whatever spying you need/want to do.
Anyhow, not so much that we were cheating, our network was legit with 400 users before we started this project, and we were registered with SearchIRC legitimately.
However, we began work on the project (which is ongoing) - and our user base increased massively, (to the 45k users its at now) - yes, these are not real users, they are "bots" for all intensive purposes.
A side effect of our project is that we gained ranks in SearcIRC - it was not our initial intention to do so, but once we noticed it, we just ran with it rather then unregistering or whatever.
The bot project is ongoing, although we are no longer listed with searchirc - it was not our initial intention to "cheat" but, we went with it when it happend.
Eitherway, were still dooing what we were dooing, because its a neat project for us, to practise coding and stuff.
What is the project ? Just bots?
Sorta, we are creating vast ammounts of AI type bots using *one* shell process - these bots are capable of populating a channel and talking to one another in the channel in what seems to be logical conversation. The bots are capable in functioning and having conversations in most languages, though, right now its sitting on French, English, Spannish, and some German.
WorldFreaks was populated and was our test channel for our initial run with the bots, where they had conversations that were logical enough that *real users* would join in, and the bots would talk to them and they were satisfied enough to believe it was a real person.
We (HackExe) dont feel there is anything wrong with this, and so due to the ammounts of users it showed on the ircd, we were kicked outta searchirc.
I admit, I was angry and frusterated with the comments made toward us, however, I dont actually beleive anything we are dooing is childish or kiddy in anyway, the bots are coded tight, (not mIRC script) - and we had to modify the Bahamut IRCD quite extensively in order to allow 45k bots from one process.
The whole project has tested both Unrealircd and bahamut ircd quite a bit, (Unreal is just not capable of coping with such a load, which is why we were absolutely forced into Bahamut) - and even then, bahamut needed to be modded quite a bit.
Anyhow, thats my story of what went on, and sure, I was an $#$@!@# with the comments I posted before I had time to chill out and explain.

| What I don't understand is why you need 45+ bots... |

Is because the more bots we have the more channels we can open for the bots to chat with another user/another bot with.
Just another bug we had to fix so the more we load the more the network is alive |
