Like I said before. I know flaming is a terrible thing to do. and people with any common sense would ignore it. But comments like, "Their network is unstable, I think they need to get better providers"...Ok, lets put it this way, more of a personal opinion, flaming is harasement pretty much, saying how good the network is, or what it lacks of or needs to work on is a good comment as well. But the moderation to remove comments is not something i can support, because then any network stating anything not positive would not work, and like the mod said, it would lose its value.

| nothing wrong with constructive criticism, everything wrong with an outright flame (and more often than not, it's the one who wrote the comment who has a personal vendetta against the network owner or any of its staff) |

There are some people that are very angry people and angsty that will write anything just for revenge purposes. They have no validation to claims but still feel an obligation, even as they were flooding users, spamming people, insulting and stalking etc, that they can also add the final touches to the network that finally could take no more and akilled them. SearchIRC is great to allow people the right for commentary, but something really does need to happen to those individuals whose remarks that they leave merely insulting and empty, done purely out of revenge.
I do agree that users should have the rights to commentary but if it can be proven that a user is just malicious and out for revenge and attention, something hopefully is able to be done to remove the person's commentary so the network does not have to bother writing in response and giving that person attention he/she wants. No network is perfect, but people do pay to have their servers up so others can chat on them. I guess I really see no reason someone should be nasty to harm someone else because there are several networks out there to choose from and a user is hardly paying for anything. |

When I see a comment which contains such as profanity, abuse, etc. I usualy take it to mean that the admins have weeded out a trouble maker. People who have been banned/klined with out good cause usualy will make every attempt to settle the problem with the admins, not post crap in public. People who DO post crap in public usualy did something similar to get themselfs banned/klined in the first place.
To me that kind of comment is a plus for the network. Usualy. It shows me that the admins are attempting to weed out the trouble makers. But then, the kind of networks I prefer are those who work out problems with users wihout resorting to klines. Klines should always be a last resort, and only used on users who just will not listen to reason. When that guideline is followed, then it becomes obvious that the person who posts the crap was the problem. |
