ITS A SCRIPT. If you don't believe me;
nano ~/Unreal3.2/Config
You do type, ./Config, to launch your IRCd's configuration, don't you?

Yo bro, im working on a new network, 2 days old, we got about 15 users so far and growing. Hit us up in irc.planetarygaming.net and I will bypass the server application for you, If you are serious about helping a network grow, I run the latest ircu + srvx, working on mods as well. i have 3-4 years irc network experience, ran an irc network for almost 3 years as well. So please stop by and check us out man

Why do people with a shell keep saying they have a "100 mbit connection" . I have been a shell provider myself, and trust me, you'd be lucky to get 1 mbit burst rate for a whole second. Most of the time yer stuck to 50kb and maybe 100 kb/s on "busy moments".
100 mbit is the absolute maximum burst rate speed of the line the dedicated server is connected to and there may be 200 people sharing that line on a single shell server. The only way you get any real speed would be to either get your own dedicated server (like I did, I had 4 of them) or get a really fast shell, which is equally expensive (a shell that will get you on Undernet or Quakenet will cost you at least 50 dollars a month)
Oh and that server... I have a Pentium D 940 dual core 3.6 GHz with 4 GB DDR533 and SCSI-4 UW320 RAID-0 harddisks at 15.000 rpm... and even that has trouble handling all the data, so guess how "stable" your server is when 200 background processes are being executed (which is only 30 shells + the operating system and essentials) |
