Sounds cheap-how do you plan on making enough money to cover the uplink? I hope its not by cramming 100 ircd's on a single box Smile

Just wondering Smile

i have a very unique situation where a fairly rich girl who happens to find this sort of thing interesting started up a shell provider and gave me full access to sell ircds/shells. i dont have to worry about cost so i can charge what i want and it is all profit to me. as far as i know, she doesnt want anything from it other than the experience of running it. i dont really make any money off it, and i dont take advantage of her situation or anything. actually i'm pretty damn grateful for the opportunity she gave me to run something cool like this. i know everyone aint so lucky Smile

Cool. I'll keep you in mind if another one of my staff members looks to start a server here soon.

You can all do it cheaper BUT chances are the box is horse sh*t. We only allow 45 ircd per box and 20-30 eggdrops/bncs. The boxes uptime is also unbeatable. First thing people should think about when buying ircd accounts is their quality for the price they pay. For the price your paying here... you get more the the quality you deserve.

trust me... the machine isn't bad. its pretty damn good actually. i host my personal shell on it. as i believe i've said. repeatedly. i've explained how i can do it so cheaply and i've explained why i don't intend to overload the box. i believe one of your server admins on skene is using my service for his personal server. so... yea.

there you go.

Honestly the only way you can tell is to try it out. Thats why I stay away from providers that require 3 month increments. With a monthly account you can bail if its not good.

I have 6 IRCd shells for my network and it took me a while to find a good 'mix' for those 6. I have 6 because I like redundancy-I don't like to place all my eggs in one basket or all of my servers on one provider. But it took me a while to find 6 I liked-I probably went through at least 15 different providers to get the 6 I have now, some of them were highly ranked and were crud, some of them seemed like 'hole in the wall' isps but have turned out to be the best for reliability and customer service.

The only real way to find out if its going to fly is 'under fire'. You'll find out soon enough if the shell is going to cut the mustard that way.
