| I'm just wondering how many people use or would use ircservices, over Anope and the other IRC Service packages on offer. |

| IRC Services is just boring, I have used them before and I doubt I will ever use them again. There is no control, they are simple but not to user friendly. |

ircservices simply isnt simple
it has many configuration options, and it has the services which make sense to keep the network running.
no coffeeserv, stopfloodsserv, boredserv, stupidserv, just the important stuff. Once you have over a certain number of users you realise that these 'extras' not only slow your network down, but also create lots of support issues.
Not to mention, ircservices is properly documented for the developer so that if you want to make changes you can, also its *properly* modular with a proper protocol module support (which means you dont need to recompile it to change the ircd it connects to and you can write support for new ircds while keeping it TOTALLY isolated from the other code).
Not only is ircservices still under development, its the most stable package of the lot. ive never had it crash with its packaged module set. ever. Other packages such as neostats etc segfault regularly, for no real reason.
Anope is a reasonable package, but it has some issues, the biggest of these being the need to recompile it all to enable support for other ircds.
EDIT: I'm not sure if anope has nickserv mailauth yet... which is used to stop people just regging false nickserv registrations. I remember when the fyle worm was abundant, and tons of users running anope found their databases filled with nicks like \[]||\`` etc, which they then had to go through and delete, some people even disabled nickname registration for hotmail users because of this! Did anope add this feature yet? IRCServices has had it for 3 years... |

I see your point, I guess when it comes down to it its a personal meaning from all of us. I found it a bit to simple for my taste. Yeah Anope has MailAuth option (Atleast the newest version I tried), but you got to enable it yourself in the configs.
When it comes to Anope I think it works fine, I have used it on my network for about a year now and I have only had some small problems with it so I am happy with it .
I have to agree that perhaps you don't need all the extras modules but I think its good to have BotServ & HostServ on a network. |

hostserv is very useful, we coded one of our own for ircservices. People on our network donate for vhosts and the payments keep our servers running. |

| Yeah HostServ sure is useful, its better protection for the users since they can hide their host/ip not to mention its alot cheaper then having to buy a BNC to use on for example a Bahamut network. |

nothing segfaults for no reason, i've run neostats for ages, and the only time i find it segfaults is when i do things wrong.
if the segfaults are reported then they are fixed, but the developers can't fix things they don't know about. |

| I've never used Ircservices but I've tried some of the others and anope's worked best for me in terms of reliability and user friendliness. On the network I currently run a server on, Dalnut, they run bahamut servers and modded the bahamut and anope to work with vhosts. |
