I thought of a idea last night and as i'm not a progammer or anything, i wanted to see if any of you people think it would be possible or anyone's willing to have a crack at trying it...
"A php or java script for a web based (http) IRC client however, the user using the client is not connected to the server. The server where the php script is based relays the activity on the server. The user can send data via the server so the user would be chatting on IRC without actually directly being connected to any IRCd's or on any wierd ports. it would all be http:// . The reason i belive this would be a good idea is... If you're school or place of work has filterd irc:// ssh:// etc or other ports beyond 80 and 21 you could use irc without using any of those. it would be heavy on bandwidth but work it for irc addicts."
has this been done before, did you understand it, is it possible? |

The reason they block those ports isn't because they don't want you using 6667, it's because they don't want you using irc! By using such a tool, you are risking being fired from your job or expelled from your school. If you are honestly that addicted to irc, where you are willing to jeopardize your entire life for it, then you should seriously seek psychiatric help. |

| .... :( hey i'm a hardcore irc addict.. they wont kick me out of school, not now anyway, i only got a few months left anyway :P .. plus i wiped their whole shared network a year ago to make a point about their shoddy security and they didn't do nowt.. I'M A IRC ADDICT, I ADMIT IT.. (i see akilled people..) |
