Not so friendly trivia rooms

Trivia is a safe and friendly family orientated trivia game. People from around the world and of all ages are welcome to relax and join in the game and make new friends any one welcome....

All trivia channels are not the friendly kind.. Sad

for instance 1.. if you dont chat while playing trivia they say you're rude...(
2..if you manage to keep the top scores in the trivia room the players gang up on you tell the owner of the room you are rude and ignorant to see you get kicked out of the chan and baned even..
3.. and these trivia rooms claim to be friendly????

I have yet to find a trivia room that is friendly and nice to be in..(
So far most I have been in are not to freindly..(
I go in trivia rooms to play trivia.
I am not a chatty person.
I am not rude.
I say hi or hello to all in the room.
I do not abuse trivia players
When I do find some thing to chat about some of the people in the room say,
why are you talking to me ?? what do you want ?? you never talk to me ..
I am a 57 year old grand mother who likes to play trivia and I am the top score holder for the year,or at least I was.
yes I am slow and can not get a word in with the faster more quicker people in the room so mostly I play by myself when the others are not there and it gets very boring at times.
I exspect to be de-oped when I go to play in trivia or even maybe baned for some time due to my not chatting during the game .
And I heard the one player in the trivia will get a head start in the new year with being given extra points to get started because she calims that I abused her during the trivia game.

Most of the players in this trivia room are ops so if this was going on why did not they boot or kick me with all this alledged abuse going on

I would just like to say in reply to this post that our trivia room is one of the friendliest around in my opinion - I think Amerdeus is referring to us as one of the trivia rooms she has encountered.

I can only say that when she attended our room, some time ago now I may add, we did nothing but befriend her and make her feel welcome. I have no recognition at all of being any other way.

I would also add that being an op is an important job - the biggest part of this being to make other ppl feel welcome when they arrive for the first time and when they continually come back. It is an ops job to do this and if that means losing a few points from trivia, then that is what it means.

An op is supposed to be friendly at all times and, yes, chatty to other players and to keep the room safe from abuse, flood, bad language and many other things.

If someone is not prepared to do these things, then in my opinion they should not accept an ops position.

you might want to take a look at our trivia channel.

We have over 80,000 questions stored in a mysql-powered bot, and allow channel users to submit questions, and we're as friendly as you can get.

by the way word of warning, friendly does not translate to motivated Wink

We were supposed to reset the scores for the new year, but due to real life stuff i havent had time to do this yet.

Our trivia stops if you play it for more than 10 minutes alone, but all you need to do is get a second person to start it - so bring a partner and play in pairs - it also supports teams (any size, no limit in number of teams at any one time), streaks, and just about everything that any other bot supports as well as multiple-answer quickfire rounds.

Glad to see someone else is taking up the thread here Smile

I agree, friendly and motivated are not really the same thing. Friendly is chatting to someone when they enter a room, maybe asking how they are etc, saying well done if they win a question and thankyou when congratulated yourself + many other little things that make up a comfortable and happy room to be in.

I still stand by what I said in my previous post - if these are things that a person finds hard to do, then, maybe, an ops position should not be accepted.

ops dont really do much in our channel, they play like everyone else and don't really do any kicking... no need to.

Thats the best way to be imho, the design of our bot and channel generally manages itself, our ops are more 'moderators', and have access to the question database to approve new questions etc, and fix broken or incorrect questions. This is their responsiblity, not user control Smile

Ahhh ok, ours is a place to come and meet friends as well as play trivia and like most rooms, you often get idiots who like to ruin it for others. Therefore our ops are to keep the room safe as well as ensure all runs smoothly Smile
