There are two solutions that come to mind:
1) Turn off whatever script that causes you to /whois people too much.... and then email the network staff asking to be unbanned.
2) Chat on some other network - one where the admins don't take offence if you /whois them.

3 Chat on a Network that knows how stupid the "nick just /whois'ed you" feature is.
Pointless, annoying and appearently some clueless admins use it as an excuse to flex their IRC muscles. |

| Yeah, this is pretty funny. What if I was looking for help and did a whois on the oper to get his/her attention? I'd get Zlined too? I think if I were you, I'd find a better network. |

If you WHOIS an oper to get their attention you'll be waiting an awful long time on most networks. :P
What's wrong with joining #help these days?
(P.S. Yeah, I'd find another network too.) |

The same thing that's wrong with letting Server Admins run their own server without being forced to give up shell access or give O:Lines to every other oper on the network .... absolutely nothing! |

| What does using Unreal have to do with "lazy opers"? |

| The fact that ~60% of people using Unreal don't have a !@#$@#! clue what they are doing, and don't read up on a problem or whatever springs to mind... |

I have to disagree. I've been involved in the development of Klient, IRCServices, Cygnus IRC Services. I'm on support forums for Unreal, Anope and mIRC. I've done tech support for ISP's, DirecTV. I've been in mIRC/windows/Mac/Linux/FreeBSD help channels for years. Not reading the docs is a universal problem indicating that people are lazy, not just unreal users. All the above see their fair share of newbies alike. |

| For sure. But from participating in Anope/Unreal/Other support channels, I can say that Unreal seems to get more than it's fair share of them. And this AFTER they have a test that needs to be taken to ask for support. |

Since the post ventured towards this direction, I couldn't resist.
All this time I thought my girl brains didn't comprehend the unreal Docs, but now that I've learned I'm a lazy newb, there is hope for me yet! Being a 4 yr. old newb is getting quite tiresome. Somewhere under all this mush, may be a geek in hiding |
