Hello everyone,
I am a person interested in ConferenceRoom only. But I also want to learn about lIRCds, and how to modify them for my own needs. I am using WinXP. Can I learn on that operating system everyting related ircds and modifying? All your comments are welcome.

Thank you.

You know C, right? If you don't, you won't be able to modify an IRCd (unless by modifying you mean configuring it).

C is a programming language, an advanced one. You can't just learn it in a day or two. It takes many months or even years. If you really want to learn C you should start from the beggining. IRCd is a very advanced program and you won't understand it's code without knowing the basics.
And NO, we can't teach you C Wink.

Then help me with showing the way Smile Nobody can learn anything in 2-3 days. As told by you, it may take some months, also may take years. But, it all ends in us. I mean if we study hard, we get it quick. And I will do it. Nobody can learn difficult without knowing basics.

Before you start opening the source etc, you'll need to get a open source ircd, ConferenceRoom is the only ircd that i know of who dont allow you to look at or change the souce code :)

I think the best way to learn is to buy a book. You can also google for online courses and tutorials. For example this one.

Here is an IRC RFC. A little outdated, but still useful.

And no, most IRCds are not supposed to run on Windows and won't compile propertly. One i know that does (UnrealIRCd) requires you to use an expensive MS Visual Studio to compile it... you'd better buy some shell account, but then you'd have to learn *nix basics also (which is a good thing Wink).
