boredMDer writes "According to a recent update on the Dshield.org mailing list, apparently the Fizzer Task Force has gained control of the Geocities webpage from which Fizzer updates itself. From an IRC-Security mailing list: 'We have also postted a Fizzer cleaner to the actual URL that the bot downloads its updates from, as a self extracting and running executable.' The Fizzer-uninstaller posted there creates the file '%WinDir%\uninstall.pky', which then causes Fizzer to remove all of its registry keys. Looks like the Fizzer worm will soon come to an end." |

| What about legal action against the dumba$$ that made it and released it in the first place? If he is in the USA, they need to burn him in court. |

The good samaritan law should apply in this case
It's easier to catch the folks fixing it, their name is freely out there.
The original coders I'm sure are doing everything they can to remain anon. |

I Agree, I had to goto court helping 35 people on my network remove a trojan they had... i designed software for them to remove it with ease, and someone reported me for it... I then went to court and it was thrown out due to it being an "online" situation, its ghey how some people dont understand and want virii to cont. spreading across the internet.. just so they can be "badass'" and show off to their friends for the amount of DoSnet bots they have and also for being able to null0 & SYN flood an IP/Domain...
I do all I can to stop virii on my network, and so far i havent had a single issue, yes my network was just started up again, and yes its "new" and doesnt have many idlers.. but even before when i have over 3,000 users i only had that outbreak of 35 people being infected and they got it from a DALnet channel |
