I've seen phpBB used on some pretty large websites, phpBB's own forums are pretty large (more than 1 million posts and 100,000 users).

Actually, one of phpbb's biggest flaws is user volume database failures. More people start using the forums, the databases start malfunctioning. It happened to Leoville Town Square before they moved to UBB.Threads... However, when PHPbb 2.2 comes out, these errors will be a thing of the past.

Think of phpBB as the unrealircd of forum software.. Its nice and simple, and works well for smaller communities, but sucks under heavy use.

Actually, the largest PHPBB forum I've ever seen has:

Quote:
161,278,802 articles posted, with 61,673,209 in storage
We have 863,711 registered users
Most users ever online was 12,598 on Mon Jun 28, 2004 3:32 pm

Now, we have to keep in mind they made some code changes, and run the forum using two servers... but it shows that PHPBB can be used for larger forums.

The board was running fine until I made the upgrade, which appears to have a problem. The upgrade required some mysql structure changes, I wonder if that update didn't function 100%.

At any rate, I can run a crontab to update user post counts... are there any other problems anyone noticed?

Yeah, these user titles are a bit odd. "Newbie1", "User2", and the like.

Yeah, that's what I started this about... it seems to occasionally update for me though.
