Server or IRCD please ?

Hi,

A couple of us are leaving a irc server for a game we play as a sign that we have had enough of the head IRCOp and his power mongering / witch hunting. (BTW I have had expierence with all sorts of network admins , system admins etc. This guy is worse for power mongering then any of them Wink

)

Well we need a new home Smile

We will be carrying over around 50 - 140 users in total. Not too sure if we should get our own IRCD or if a network would allow us onto their server. The game has a lot of kids so we'd need a network that is porn / warez free.

If we go with our own IRCD could someone reccomend a provider? Any idea at what sort of bandwidth would be used up? Money is an issue a lot of us are poor students Smile

We are an IRC Network dedicated to gamers of all kinds. All of our IRCops are very mature and are no where near power hungry, in fact I don't even op in the help channels and I'm the network founder.

Combined our staff has more than 2 decades of IRC experience. We believe that so long as your channel doesn't violate any network policies, you can do what you wish in it. Afterall, it is YOUR channel.

No need to host your own server. We will host all of your users and channels for you! We have 2 super fast servers with more than enough room.

Hi I Would Recomend UltimateIRCD, Since it is easy to setup and the commands seem to be easy and straing-foward, But Unreal is also a good ircd program, Unreal also can be setup on a windows based machine where UltimateIRCd cannot.
Ass for a shell provider to host the server if you would like to go that route, I recomend Veritynet (http://www.veritynet.net/shells_ircd.html) I would recomend a large ircd shell account since it will alow you to expand your network or run servives.

If your looking for a network thats aready established, I would recomend Hells-net (small network looking to grow.)(irc.hells-net.org)
or U-chat (U-chat has good managemnt, well managed)(irc.u-chat.org)

coul try acidchat out, prob is, we arent aimed at young kids, though we are targeted towards games, but we also are targeted towards development and other things.

Give irc.creativeirc.net a go.. it's pretty much aimed at younger users.. it has a few dbz chans, ragnarok online chans, trading card game chans, and also has the popular irc game witticisms.. give it a visit Wink
